Review:  Think John Wick meets Jack Reacher meets Home Alone meets Bad Boys. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of shoot outs in movies but in Nobody, I was actually quite entertained and laughing (But only Bad Boys did it funnier). There was definitely something different there with that many mash ups taking place, and overall, not as dark as the synopsis or movie advertisements would have you believe (Age Rating still applies regardless). There are talks of a crossover with John Wick (They share the same producer and screenwriter), which would be interesting.

Review:  This movie could not have come out at a worse time for a country (America) that should be healing. Daniel Kaluuya, personally, is fast becoming one of the more interesting names to watch out for with his current casting choices. I think the biblical play here in the movie was very good for the story and considering that many Americans are still fighting / pushing for fair / equal treatments for many years now, tells of their struggles for many decades (From the movie perspective).

Such occurrences within the country dubbed “leader of the free world” would worry many in the world watching eagerly. I also got the impression that another rising rights activist had been “neutralised” before their time to see some real change. As the movie is based on real life events, I’d keep an open mind here

Review:  If you were expecting a quiet movie, this was anything but that. This movie feels like a culmination of a story that exploded into the cinemas in 2014 in the “Monsterverse” and converged in not one, but two showdowns. Lots of action packed scenes, some character building for Kong that didn’t seem to drag on and quite a few conspiracy theories being toyed around with (tap water, “lizard people” etc). Definitely worth watching, in what feels like a final story, but left open for potentially more

Review: So Warner Bros finally relented, and gave the fans what they asked for, with a generous $70 million budget, and the “Snyder Cut” was finally released as Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Now, I’ve seen the 2017 disappointment movie and I almost hated it more than the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, if it wasn’t for certain scenes (The Flash realising Superman can “see” him approaching was exquisite) and the whole movie felt really forced to a deadline. Honestly, I would have been happier if Warner Bros had pushed the release date back and really thought this through earlier, maybe they would have come close to this version of the movie, and hopefully minus the negativity surrounding it

Having said that, after waiting more or less three years, the original vision was finally realised, which obviously led to even more disappointment that I couldn’t have had the IMAX cinema experience to watch this movie in. The tone, whilst aimed at a more mature audience like the Deadpool movies, has completely changed for me as the story starts to flesh out more and the character developments are built up for future appearances. A few nods to other DC stories if you keep an open mind. Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth owned his scenes

I am no longer disappointed in Justice League as the remake of the original vision can sprawl out into multiple more stories, should Warner Bros and Zack Snyder (There are reports that Zack did this for free??) decide to continue their collaboration. Now obviously, the only stumbling block would be the addition of megastar Dwayne Johnson to the DCEU. Brilliant casting by Warner Bros but as far as crossovers go, the story telling will need to be spot on in order to meld a direction now that Darkseid proper is in play. Sure the movie is nearly four hours long but use the intervals and forget the 2017 version...?

Review: What a complete character change for Ruby Rose, she went from fighting crime in Gotham as Batwoman to actually becoming a psychopath in this movie. Although Batwoman released in 2019 and this movie’s shooting began in 2018 and was released in 2021, it may even be the other way round? But lots of action here in Die Hard-equse sequences, but taking place in the Channel Tunnel. Some character development conflicts which are carried over which may cause confusion. However, a sudden twist in the movie was quite well written. Intriguing to see Andy Serkis get more screen time

Review: So I actually didn’t actually watch The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air when it was airing in the 90s. It wasn’t until the re-runs a bit later on that I finally managed to get through its six season run, and this was after I saw Will Smith in the ground breaking blockbuster movie, Independence Day. When hearing that a reunion of the original cast was going to be aired on sky, I finally managed to get though the documentary, and I have to say, it really was heartfelt, bringing back memories of a different time. The documentary itself really draws you in that it’s like you are there, with the cast, through the journey they are sharing. Definitely worth a watch, if you are able to

Review: Another one that slipped me by. I was very intent on watching this sequel however, it just didn’t work out. But I have to say, Mark Ruffalo certainly has more action sequences here which thankfully, are not CGI related (That stint would come in Thor: Ragnarok a year later). The movie packs in more than its predecessor and adds more star power in Daniel Radcliffe, but no magic with wands though and you can’t go wrong with Morgan Freeman. A few twists and turns in the movie, one rather riveting sequence in the second of the series, with a third movie expected in 2022, depending on current events in this pandemic

Review: I’m not heavily into boxing. I mean, I’ll check for updates on boxing bouts and what not but you wouldn’t catch me watching all 12 rounds of one match. But this is Mike Tyson. I have seen countless documentaries of Muhammad Ali, even the movie “Ali” starring Will Smith, but for Mike Tyson? I have read snippets of his “Iron Mike” and “Baddest Man on the Planet” personas, seen his cameos in movies and seen him in the news here and there, but as a person, in his own words? Personally, this documentary was an eye opener into the life of the boxer himself. Definitely worth a watch, if you can keep an open mind?

Review: To be honest, I was not expecting Will Smith’s sudden “Nigerian” accent. I have watched a lot of his movies and become accustomed to his voice, to the point where it is expected, like in Bad Boys For Life. After pulling myself away from another newly released episode of Attack on Titan which gave me chills (in a good way), movies based on true stories / real life events usually get my attention. However, I watched the entire Ballers series and realised that if you’re going up against a franchise like the NFL, it would be better as story telling not limited by a movie which has invited controversies. But still worth watching if you’re a Will Smith fan.

 Synopsis

Living quietly among mortals in the vibrant 1980s, Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman, experiences an era of excess driven by the pursuit of "having it all". Coming into her full powers, she maintains a low profile by categorising ancient artefacts and performing heroic acts seemingly under cover. Diana soon finds that she will have to muster all of her strength, wisdom and courage as she finds herself pitted against Maxwell “Lord” Lorenzano and Cheetah, a villainess who also has strength and agility in her possession

Review: This movie was pushed back a few times due to the pandemic, and had a lot of hype going for it, given the success of 2017’s Wonder Woman. I’d have to say that whilst it was different, personally, it didn’t capture what made its predecessor so enticing to watch, that too on the premise of the feel of Thor: Ragnarok. There is a Greek mythology surrounding Diana Prince that could or would draw audiences in with huge spectacles within the movie. I can’t help but shake the feeling that everyone would feel differently if we weren’t in a pandemic. But then again, even less than grandiose moments have been able to awe audiences. Lots of character building for what I hope will be a bigger sequel, given the mid-credits scene.

Review: Yet another one that got away, but in my defence, there really was not enough space in the car going at the time, so I had to take the hit. And again, another chance on the right channel leads me to encounter the movie again. And I have to say, I was very disappointed that I had to miss this one because although it was pulse racing throughout, Tom Cruise really sold as a hit-man. Quite a bit of development for both Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx's characters with humour added, an element quite rare in such movies and genres. Definitely worth watching, from beginning to end. No turning green here for Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo)
